Blood Drive Sponsored Peace Retreat

Title

Blood Drive Sponsored Peace Retreat

Description

In May 1970, after the U.S. invasion of Cambodia and the Kent State shootings, NC State organized a Peace Retreat, allowing students to discuss their role in a society without the immediate consequences of taking classes. The Peace Retreat was treated much like an athlete missing class for a game, it could be made up later. Amid all of this, there was a blood drive where Red Cross workers hoped to take advantage of the communal interest to get people to donate their time and blood to others.
