The Political Organization

During its first year of operation, the SAAC focused on several causes relating to black students and employees at NC State. These issues, though grounded in race, reflect a broader interest in labor and gender concerns. Additionally, their choice of causes reflects not only an interest in local issues, but also a familiarity and alignment with national and international black protest movements. These protests were often met with both support and discouragement from NC State administrators and students, as well as other North Carolina government officials.
