This photograph of dozens of African American students at an engineering conference was taken sometime between 1970 and 1979. The photograph demonstrates the growing number of black students at NC State and the university's efforts to recruit black students. However, if it is worth noting that the instructor in the picture is white; black faculty were still scarce in the 1970s.
