In this excerpt from testimony of the Faculty Council's investigation into the practices of the football coach and athletic director at North Carolina State College, Dean of Students Edward Lamar Cloyd wondered whether there would be more spirit on the football team if more of the players were from North Carolina and did not have foreign-sounding names. Student leader Hall Morrison replied that he did not believe that these were important factors.
