Doing a digital history project like this one is always an exercise in balancing individual scholarship with collaborative engagement. While each of our collaborators conducted their own research and wrote their own exhibits, because of the nature of our topic, many of our sources--especially primary source archival collections--overlapped and coincided. Additionally, as our project evolved and we chose new and exciting directions, we in many ways helped one another by sharing interesting finds, new leads, and valuable sources. Therefore, we listed our references, both primary and secondary, together in one list for ease of reading and to emphasize the level of collaborative work that went into this project. We hope you find these sources as helpful--and as fascinating--as we did!
